Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Just a quick note to let you all know that at the six month point since the discovery of diabetes, I seem to be doing well.

I just got the results from my latest HA1c. The A1c is a test to see how often you have been too high in your blood glucose in the past three months. Target for diabetics is a number between 5 and 7 percent. Keeping it down helps stave off all sorts of complications.

More info...updated ADA guidelines, June 2004

When I was diagnosed, it was 12.8, three months in, it was 8.4.

I am happy to report that I have acheived a 6.8 for my six-month anniversary. Doctor says I must be doing something right, keep it up, keep working on weight loss. Other factors are within norms, blood gasses, liver test, etc.

Thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Swouncing

Not to make this all meMeME, but I so very much wouldn't want to miss any Buffista who is in one of the areas I'm going to visit, at the time I'm there, I'm posting the list of places and dates here. Several details aren't final yet, and will be discussed in the F2F thread, in between the actual relevant topics. Anyway:

  • 11th of August: landing in LA.
  • 11 - 18 August: LA.
  • 19 of August: car-trip to SF.
  • 19 - 23 August: SF.
  • 23 of August: plane-trip to Boston.
  • 23 - 24 August: Boston.
  • 25 - 30 August: NYC.
  • 31 August: DC.
  • 1 September: home to Israel.

Maybe it will be a good idea if everyone who is supposed to be in one of those places at the relevant date will e-mail me, so that I'll be able to make lists of relevant e-mails for each location, and make sure nobody is missed? I'd hate to miss an opportunity to meet even one of you, and there are already so many of you that I wouldn't get to meet, at least not on this round.

"We have trust issues." Mylar

La-istas, the DH and I are in your fair city right now as we speak. We will be in LA until Thursday for sure and we may extend through the weekend if the weather continues to be as absolutely beautiful as it is today. If anyone can meet, we'd love to. Drop me a line. Profile addy is good.

Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

Going gray for a few days. Out of town on business in lovely Little Rock, AR.
