What with the Kate Beckinsale and all? Actually I liked Underworld's visual treatment of the vampires, though the fully transformed werewolf CGI was appalling. This trailer reminded me of the Fright Night movies with their ear-to-ear maws. Too bad Julia Roberts is out of their salary range, they could have avoided the need for special effects altogether.
Madrigal Costello: I developed way too early, so the idea of being an A or B seems exotic and thrilling.

It is my strongly held opinion that just about everything Madrigal says is quotable, and this offering in Bitches is no exception. (Plus it was the setup to my setup in the above COMM.)
I had a writing class where four students turned in stories about necro-bestiality, or at least in depth involvement with dead animals - and one did three of them. In another a student had each story feature a robotic prostitute of some kind - he was told to drop it for at least story, so he just called her a human, but forget to remove a passage that described her powering up by putting batteries up her ass. At least he wasn't like the guy who kept writing stories in which gorillas ate lesbians. That guy was a freak.

Sigh. This is my fourth winter in this country. It had been a worthy record. Great was the pride I felt; I offered my condolences to those lesser beings for whom winter carried the perils I had so steadfastly avoided.
But today, it has all come crashing down. Nevermore will I walk in that hallowed pantheon, for today, I slipped and fell on the black ice.
It was only last week I was boasting of it, and daring the wrath of the gods. I said it at the time; truly, their sense of humour is utterly predictable. But, apparently, I do have to give them props for timing.

Heh. I wonder if the writers pulled out the Nazi card in order to remind such folk that yes, unsouled vamp = EVIL. Of course, I can imagine a situation where the whole thing backfires as some of the more extreme fen take their Spike-can-do-no-wrong convictions so far that they conclude that Goebbels was just a poor, misunderstood woobie.
