Living Proof that I'll write anything but what I should...this may end up being my best attempt at a m/m, which I've never written. Two of my favorite characters, and one of my favorite scenes, ever.
Many-Splendored, Revisited
It wasn't often chilly in Sunnydale, but the admiring glances from women weren't the only reason Tim was glad he'd taken Tanya's suggestion(order, really) and worn the leather jacket out.
Their tantalizing suggestions hadn't hurt either, and he was feeling proud of himself as he headed home. But a detective's day starts early, and the outfit was starting to feel like a costume again as he left the red-light district behind. "What have we here? Another rebel without a clue, then?"
"Are you talking to me?" Bayliss said, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up.

"I don't see anyone else here," the voice from the shadows continued. "Yes, Tall, Pale and Haunted...I'm talking to you." Spike snorted a "get new material" snort. "Does your mother know you're out?"
"No," Tim said, honestly. "My mother would really hate this."
Spike's leather coat was not a costume. Bayliss bet luminal would light it like a Christmas tree. "Funny," he said, his face now a mass of angry ridges and yellow eyes "Mine too."
SLASH!

WHEEEEEEEEEEE!
Yeah. Timmy's my black dress. He goes with everything. But I don't get to wear him everywhere. Rats.
Oh, wow, Erika, that's really cool.
I feel like I should know this, but I don't. What's this mean?
Bayliss bet luminal would light it like a Christmas tree
Luminal is a chemical they put on stuff to make blood show up. If it does, it glows. Now I feel like I need a show "All I know I learned from Lenny Briscoe." or "Mr. Pembleton's Neighborhood."
Ah, I thought it had something to do with blood or fingerprints, but I couldn't remember where I'd heard it. Now I remember, a novel where a house glowed with it, though it looked perfectly clean without.
Yep, it can pick up tiny specks. Spike's jacket, pretty glowing. That scene, without Spike being in it, is the one I talk about all the time, with the leather, and the oosting. But that whole ep is hot.
Luminol turns blood a pretty luminescent blue, Deena.

So if you sign up for a ficathon, and you're assigned a character you don't know much about, is it acceptable to ask for help here? (Not writing help, more "what episodes should I watch, what are good stories with this character"-type stuff.) I know ficathon assignments are supposed to be semi-anonymous until published, but I need to do some research if I'm gonna write this character remotely well.
