Aw, poor kitty. Did "Homicide" not cross the pond, Fay? In some ways, I can see why it wouldn't being almost always almost-cancelled here and all. And being quite emphatically about an American city and justice system. And I didn't find it till reruns anyway, cause it was probably on when "Friends" was on, or some shit.(Sometimes I find my younger self most embarrassing.) I'm gonna take it as a massive compliment that you care about the story without having seen it. Cause that show had everything(almost): murders, dark humor. a tormented bisexual trying to escape a difficult past, Andre Braugher, fans getting mad at the creator, and a fandom fight or two.

In point of fact I think we do have Homicide: LotS. And several other strings of initials also - and I know they're supposed to be good too, but I've never actually happened across them in my erratic viewing.
hangs head in shame.
Don't feel bad, Fay. It's taken me till the DVDs were released to see more than 10.(And it was on for like seven years.) Tiny devoted fandom, with very unpleasant things to say about the series creator.
Fay, you must see H:LOTS. I've been telliong Roz the same thing. never Mind "The Bill". Go find H:LOTS.
erika, I'm swooning here. Makes me want to yank out my season 1/2 HLOTS DVDs and watch them end to end.
Thanks. Huge compliment.I'm blushing.(And I just had occasion to wonder watching a L&O crossover who that Novacained black chick, Michele Whatsits was balling, that they'd rather write for her than for Kay. Kay rules. )When I saw Michele on ER I thought she was chilly cause the character was supposed to be chilly. But, no, that's what she can do. That and be pretty in an unapproachable way.)
erika, the whole Kay thing was - get this - that Melissa Leo wasn't "pretty or sexy" by the standards of the little teeny tiny pencil-dick suits who ran NBC in those days. Then she got into a mess with her crazy stalker ex-husband and they used that as an excuse to edge her out and replace her, first with Isabella Hoffman, then with Lady Novacaine (and yes, Michele is chilly. But very very pretty.)
Yeah, I read about that. Got my hackles raised, too, if I've got hackles. I think Kay(and Melissa) is a very beautiful woman in a normal-person sort of way, which, hello? What size 0 modelette's gonna work Homicide, or if she is, she's not standing around like a 'bot saying"I'm very pretty...murderers of the world beware!" She would minimize it to fit in in the squad.(Not that hiding my beauty has ever been a problem in my life.)Likethe ADAs on Law & Order. A few even gorgeous women, I could believe, but now it's "McCoy's Angels"
Remember Kay's contempt for "secretaries with guns"?
Yep."Models with briefcases" ought to be out there as an insult too. And she had some of that talent stuff, too. Some TV people don't look at that very often. I guess it doesn't show on a headshot.
Just wanted to chime in with the love of recent fic. You're all brilliant.
Erika, I absolutely love this, and I've never watched Homicide.
Tim wanted to take them and make actual smudges on them so that this brilliant and well-read man would not be reduced to busywork.
That just gets me. What an amazing line.
