Yeah, I still plan to read those. And for the latest, some of the sex is hot, but grows redundant, and there's a lot of (unintentional) humor to be found,imo. Don't pay full price though.

Joyce puts her hands behind her back. Her fingers are trembling, closed hard on something tiny. "Buffy! I thought you were taking Dawn to the mall?"
"We're going now - just wanted to see if you wanted anything from the Sweet Factory." Buffy's brows are faintly creased. "Mom, what is it?"
"Nothing, honey - just some gallery business that needs taking care of. Have a good time."
When the front door closes downstairs, Joyce takes the tiny charm and rubs it hard. She repeats the spell three times, and hopes the magic will kill the invader in her brain.

I think a lot of it is that Kristine Sutherland is a good actress. Goodness knows, over the years she didn't have a lot to do. A line here, a look there. But whatever it was written for Joyce to do, Sutherland was right there, up to the mark. She did good work, and she made Joyce breathe.
