Buffista Fic: It Could Be Plot Bunnies
Where the Buffistas let their fanfic creative juices flow. May contain erotica.
Victor, both "Pensioner" and "Needfire" are that long, if not longer. Speaking of which, someday I need to write the third part of the trilogy.
Elena, I think (yes, I am a meanie) that Angelus' snapping of Jenny's neck was karma for Jenny. She obeyed the family dictates, and the result of her secrecy and secret agenda was the unsouling of Angel (she could have prevented it, by being upfront much earlier, maybe), and Angelus took her down. Instant karma. Sorry for Giles, but on that one? It was all about the Jennyness of the original order-following screwup.
And yes, I know, deep family stuff. I don't care. Whatever the reason for an action, there's always the possibility that a reaction is going to come slamming down the pike.
Catching up on more than a hundred posts. Oh. my. freaking. goodness. Victor, um, gah. connie, wow. sa, hee! elena, oh my. lyra, hmm, you intrigue me. Plei, guh, and whaddaya mean that scene never aired?
I dassn't get this far behind again. This much effugence all at once will cause my brain to go all 'splody.
someday I need to write the third part of the trilogy.
Yes. Yes, you do.
Huh. My longest fic is currently 165,000 words, and will very likely end up at around 300,000. This scares me if I think about it too much.
165,000 words? Phew! Which one is this? My longest is still the unfinished HP story (which, yo, I should get cracking with now I have some time) which is presently at 50,000 words and I reckon will be around 70,000 when it's finished. I thought that was a bit of a beast. 300,000 - that's one
hell
of a big fic.
Victor, based on the bits of this story of yours that I've read (and I can't wait to get a link to the whole thing in one place and read it properly!), I think you might perhaps enjoy Yahtzee's Phoenix Burning . Not that it's anything like your story, mind, just that she wrote it in the summer between the Season Five ending and the start of Season Six, and she too just jumped off into What If to spin her future fic. It's a big-ass story, but if you've only encountered wee pieces so far, it's well worth a look. Very well told and some smashing original characters.
Yahtzee's Phoenix Burning
I read this recently. Pretty interesting. She got me in that Joss way, the holy-shit-I-should-have-seen-that-coming-but-didn't way. I may or may not have gotten teary, too. I don't recall.

Hey, Fay, shoot me an email. I've got something I'd like you to look at.
Am-Chau, insent.
165,000 words? Phew! Which one is this?
It is the very, very long anime fic which has turned into a ^(*&$ novel. I love big, long, sprawly novels and series (Tad Williams'
Otherworld
quadruple-decker, Tim Powers' novels, etc.) and I'm afraid it shows in my writing. I'm trying to write more drabbles and short fics so I can learn to rein in my verbosity.
The beast finally came in at 28 pages. It's not fan fic. It's a bloody novella.
Dude, in some people's lives (ie, me), that's an improv. Still, damned good piece of work.
Part 4 of Career Change hit 200 pages, and that's just part 4. The whole thing is over 100,000 words, and it ain't quite done yet.
Anne, thank you, and returned.
The longest fanfic I've finished and published as a complete story clocks in at 44,400 words. I like to read stuff that's longer than that, though.
