Angel: Yeah, I never told anyone about this, but I-I liked your poems. Spike: You like Barry Manilow.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

America was a country that could have used a good editor.

Ah. One of my favorite lines from that fic.

It depends on the section of what I'm writing, pretty obviously. I'll pull out the schmaltzy power ballads for happy love scenes, Pat Benatar for angsty love scenes, and anything with lots of guitars and drums for violence. I should put together "Music to Write By" mixes, but I don't have a burner.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Connie, I have everything on MP3, so I make playlists to write by.

I bet you have a hard drive bigger than 2 gig, too. No, that's not a typo, that's a 2. And a 14.4 dialup modem for downloads. Gah, it took me an hour and a half to get Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason," but gods, that's a great song.

The MP3s are on a 40 gig drive, the videos are on a 100 gig drive. The main drive on this box is either a 15 or 20 gig one. I have 27 gigs of music, and almost 7,000 songs.

Heh.

Going to stop nattering and post a bit of the Imposters sequel in a mo.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I'll go by fits and start as to what I listen to when writing. For the ginormous Homicide/Sailor Moon fic, I've been listening to the second DS soundtrack, "Poem" by Delerium, Peter Gabriel's new album, Rasputina's "Cabin Fever," and the TTT soundtrack.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

the ginormous Homicide/Sailor Moon fic

The knowledge that this fic exists lurks in the back of my mind whenever I happen across snippets of unfamiliar US Cop shows on the box. It makes me want to be familiar with Sailor Moon and H:LotS just to see how the devil you manage it.

My rule of crossovers is: Make it mainly about one series, and assume the audience is familiar with the canon of that series. That gives you a lot more leeway to toss in exposition about the other series. The story is mostly set in the anime series, but I borrow several characters and incidents from H:LotS, plus one from L&O.

I'm writing a crucial scene for the thing right now, and it is kicking my ass, I'm sorry to say.

Fortunately, I've got a BtVS fic and a couple of CSI fics waiting in the hutch.

This is a sound rule. My Smallville/Jossverse Crossovers have tended to demand a knowledge of both series, but I think perhaps The Changeling, which was from Lilah's POV but required no knowledge of AtS at all, was most successful. Maybe. At least I think it was accessible for SV fans (God, for some reason "fen" felt like the right word to type just then. Mad).
