The Crying of Natter 49
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
OK, I can see the city not being able to immediately differentiate between the Adult Swim stuff and the other stuff. I was under the impression that the city first had the big reaction to the Adult Swim stuff, and then the other stuff was found after. Or did the big reaction come at least partially because of the other bomb threats and fake bombs?
In any event, it was a bad decision on the part of Adult Swim, plus incredibly bad luck that this other stuff was going on at the same time.
Just now however I got the sullen and totally emo business version of "I never asked to be born!"
I get those, usually it's something along the lines of, "But I can't make that appointment!" "Coworker A won't call me back!" "Why is Coworker D out of town!?!"
Heh. I got, "I just wanted to know X, but I guess that's just too much to ask!"
To which I cheerfully responded, "Here is X information!" I did not helpfully mention that I would have given her X in the first place if she'd mentioned that X was all she needed.
Why do people think that being bitchy will make me want to help them?
sometimes it's hard to turn off the bitchiness when you are actually a bitch...Signed, Was just a total bitch to a friend who really didn't deserve it.
Assuming no prior working relationship with said person, I think I'd have gone for the "why don't you try asking me and see if it's too much?" option.
Ah but then they don't get to whine for a half hour about how difficult it is to get X. It's all about the whining.
re: Adult Swim--after seeing the stuff that shows up in "24" and all those shows, I wouldn't assume any mysterious electronic object isn't something to call the full alert out on.
edit: not to say that big city bomb squads aren't up to date on current bomb technology, but I don't want to be the squad chief saying, "Hell, it looked like a toy!"
SO...mac was up at 4 - hot and complainy. I had given him some kiddie ibu before bed, but gave him more. He did not get back to sleep, but I did. By 8 he had no fever and said he felt ok, so it was off to school. 11:15 call from school, he is complaining of headache, throat hurting, has fever, has cough.
We are now back from the Dr. - upper resp. virus and fever. Nothing related to the probably infection in his thumb. ibu, fluids/rest for the fever. soaking in hot water with epsom salts for thumb.
I have been instructed to please not lance myself anymore and also soak my thumb.
now working from home. sigh.
What connie said. Plus, I think Boston is still mortified beyond the telling of it, that the 9/11 terrorists came through Logan Airport.
I'm glad the safety personnel handled it how they did. I would rather have them treat a perceived threat as a bomb, than be afraid to take an unknown thing seriously. The media needs some self control, however.
And really? I'm a little teeny bit hip, or that is, I know you people. I know people who read comics, and watch adult swim, and my pop culture knowledge is probably a little deeper than that of the average 40 year old parent around here, and I had no clue what those little images were. None.
msbelle, there's a nasty fever virus going around. We were told it would run its course in 3-5 days. For us, it was more like 5-7 days (with both boys, my daughter remains healthy). Ben's still shaking it, but he was just getting over strep and an upper respiratory infection when this virus hit, so I think his recovery is slower than it usually is.
I hope Mac feels better, soon, and that his finger gets better, too.
