Aw, Molly Ivins. She'd been sick for a while, but she was a fucking firecracker up to the end. I once drank from a whiskey bottle at a party after her and another time told her that she was my fucking hero, to which she said only, "Aim higher." She told a story at another party about lefty ACLU members in the early 70s torn between their belief that the KKK had a right to march on the Capital and their belief that the KKK was, well, the KKK. So they officially supported the KKK's petition to the city of Austin and lined Congress Avenue to await the Klan. When the boys in white showed up, according to Molly, all the people on both sides of Congress turned around and mooned them, all 12 blocks up to the Capital steps. God bless 'em, and god bless her for trying to keep these fucking crazy-ass Texans straight for all these years.

Pardon all the "fucking"s, please. I'm a bit verklempt.
I'm a bit verklempt.
It's understandable. I was surprised how taken aback I was that I wasn't gonna get more of her words, considering I only spottily read her columns. Hearing her voice occasionally on my radio was a riot. Texas lost a special character.
I've bought more iTunes! I feel like I'm joining the 21st century!
Texas lost a special character.
I'd like to think she and Ann Richards are tearin' it up.
Which one? "This is my poodle, Cocksucker." "This is my husky, Motherfucker." "This is my German Shepard, Fuckyou."
It was, I believe, a retriever mutt type thing named "Shit"
Terribly sad.
Here she is on Ann Richards: [link]
I'm looking for some of her older columns. She had a few on Clayton Williams that were devastastingly funny.

How I felt about Douglas Adams too.
Was that the guy who kept wanting to give people a "Hypothetical"?
Al Franken is going to run for Senate: [link]
How I felt about Douglas Adams too.Gosh, me too. Death doesn't generally bother me...but I choked up when I heard about him.
And thanks Corwood. That column choked me up all over again. Bless them both.
