Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Timelies!
Not that strictly speaking I believe in retro-causality, but the shoulder-ma prevailed. My problem is diagnosed as Frozen Shoulder AKA "shoulder adhesive capsulation" AKA my rotator cuff is all inflamed and ouchified. Which is actually good news, because even if we didn't treat it, it would back off on its own over about a year or so, but treatment will speed up the healing significantly.
This is indeed good news, because the alternatives would include arthritic degeneration (NONE of which showed up on the X-rays! Yay!) and even less fun, and irrepairable problems.
So I got a cortisone shot (not at all bad -- the doctor likes to use a very small bore needle) and then waited about a half hour for an insta-Physical Therapy evaluation/session. PT tells me that the tightened up rotator cuff is impairing 40% of my mobility with the arm. I've got a set of exercizes (none of which are difficult) and an appointment next Wednesday.

Yeah I'm learning this. My friend K got pregnant a month before me (and then miscarried, so ultimately a sad story). She and I were both seeing the same FNP etc and were undergoing similar treatment. She was terrified of having to be on bedrest and at the possibility of having multiples.
I teased her about both things.
And, lo and behold, I was on bedrest at week 6 or something and am having twins.
I'd call it poetic justice, but really, my more superstitious self thinks it is Ganesha playing a joke on me. From a practical standpoint what it has meant is being more careful about what I tease other people about.
I'm so sorry for her loss.
I've learned the lesson you've learned, not only during pregnancy, but just in the course of everyday parenting. I try hard (and still fail, sometimes) NOT to say, "I would never..." about other people and their kids, because it's bit me on the ass more than I care to remember.
Theo, that is good news. And it's amazing what just a few simple exercises over the course of a month or six weeks can do to alleviate the problem. I'm glad they caught it early.
My parents still have a bar installed in their bedroom door for exercises my mother had to do for a rotator cuff thing several years ago. It's awfully handy for hanging clothes on!
I'm outgrowing too fucking much of my clothes.
Gaining or losing becomes a pain the ass because stupid clothes don't adjust themselves to fit!

and welcome to my world. I love and hate that my closet has everything from size 2 to size 16. That might not be a big deal, but I have worn all of those sizes within the past year!
for needing new sizes quickly for an unknown amount of time, I would look at buying lots on ebay or for things on freecycle.

That's right. I'd forgotten. You got teensy tiny, and then you got pregnant with twins.
Bless.
I bought a brand new wardrobe right before I got pregnant, the first time.
I've been in bed for twelve hours! I didn't sleep the whole time, but I slept better than I have in weeks and weeks!
I'm still tired.
