And Kaylee, what the hell's goin' on in the engine room? Were there monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

In further gimlet news (I, uh, don't shop at Old Navy), the bartender was positively defiant about not using Rose's.

It's early yet, but I'm leaning towards the conclusion that LA is not a Rose's syrup gimlet place.

I think it is time for bacon and more caffeine, since I still feel a little like choking a bitch.

Because books.

OMG, so glad I'm not the only one who thinks ON is on crack. I bought a pair of jeans that fit so beautifully, they were my one true pair.

So I ordered another pair (same size, same waist, just a different WASH) and they fit completely differently. As in, kind of uncomfortably tight. Bastards.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Now I'm thinking about chourizo and kale soup, but am eating a turkey sandwich. I am also thinking about snow days, and wishing I could have one. Although a glass of vodka would do in a pinch, lime juice optional.

hmm. I had two that I can think of when I was in LA. One at my hotel, and one at Trader Vic's. Hotel used Rose's, TV's used fresh lime juice, but I attributed that to their whole ethos about fresh fruit, etc.

Clearly, the next time I am in LA, we must do some experimenting.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Shaved kitties

Two pictures of cats that have had their bodies (but not their heads, tails or legs) shaved.

They don't look too happy about it.

ION, Worst jeans ever. More or less worksafe....

That does seem to be obvious. Bon should come too, so she can wrinkle her nose.

I was just thinking I hadn't been to Trader Vic's yet, and that I had to remind my travel buddy about our plans to go there.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

the bartender was positively defiant about not using Rose's.

Yeah, I got the same business from Alberta.

It's early yet, but I'm leaning towards the conclusion that LA is not a Rose's syrup gimlet place.

LA, like SF, is on the cutting edge of the cocktail revival movement. And they're all about fresh ingredients. So they sneer at Rose's the way Chez Panisse sneers at Spam. They don't do pre-processed or commercial syrups. It'd be like making the bloody mary from a canned mix.
