And almost sixty-five percent of that was actual compliment. Is that a personal best?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

the bartender was positively defiant about not using Rose's.

Yeah, I got the same business from Alberta.

It's early yet, but I'm leaning towards the conclusion that LA is not a Rose's syrup gimlet place.

LA, like SF, is on the cutting edge of the cocktail revival movement. And they're all about fresh ingredients. So they sneer at Rose's the way Chez Panisse sneers at Spam. They don't do pre-processed or commercial syrups. It'd be like making the bloody mary from a canned mix.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

OMG the football yesterday. Phew. Scared smonster a little bit with the jumping and the yelling in the last part of the Colts/Pats game. Sympathy to the Saints fans.

Anyhoo.

I shop at H&M, and have not discovered fitting problems, other than the girls being too big for any of their button-down shirts to fit in a non-obscene manner.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I was just thinking I hadn't been to Trader Vic's yet, and that I had to remind my travel buddy about our plans to go there.

Better hurry, they're going to demolish it to make way for some luxury residences.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

they're going to demolish it to make way for some luxury residences.

No! When? Isn't it sort of a landmark?

The link I have is here [link]

there's a link there to an LA Business Journal article that may have more information, but I don't have a login.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Shaved kitties

Dear lord, that's disturbing. The tabby looks like it's been forced into a too-small, pink onesie with the booties cut off. Which would probably elicit the same facial expression, come to think of it.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Rose's to lime syrup is not SPAM to meat for fuck's sake. Bars can charge for upscale or homemade syrups; just because it's harder to justify $11 for Rose's & vodka does not mean that the separate syrup is actually better.
