"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The cat has her knickers in a twist because you're anthropomorphizing coffee makers.

The coffee machine started it!

Animals come with a built in telos. They eat, they fuck, they perpetuate the species. If they're beavers they make dams. Machines are what we make of them. If we play god make them too thinky, then you wind up with Marvin, the Eeyore of Robots. It's only ethical to make them happy machines. Why should they suffer?

OTOH, my coffee machine isn't actually thinking. It's just a billboard.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Why should they suffer?

Because it's funny?

What is even happening?

Animals come with a built in telos. They eat, they fuck, they perpetuate the species.
So do Cylons.
Machines are what we make of them. If we play god make them too thinky, then you wind up with Marvin, the Eeyore of Robots. It's only ethical to make them happy machines. Why should they suffer?
Why shouldn't they?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

They want that much precision? Most have just asked me the year.

I've done two so far, and one wanted MM/YYYY and the other MM/DD/YYYY.

Well, fine. I went and submitted a claim for the windshield. I hope it turns out for the not worst. Now to fill out that UI form.

The implication being that God thinks its funny to watch you suffer, tommy.

[insert apt King Lear quote here]

You mean He doesn't? Aww... and to think of all those nights alone in my apartment when I intentionally slipped on a banana peel to increase my chances of getting into heaven....

I wouldn't treat a coffee machine the way your body treats you, ita.

You remember that scene where Homer was trying to stab his brain with a cue-tip? "Stupid brain!"

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

My phone just half died-- it will ring, but I can't hear anyone who calls.

Annoying, and yet, not.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I don't want start any blasphemous rumours
But I think that God has a sick sense of humour
