So, back from my Most Excellent Evening. Guess what I was doing--skating with a Buffista. Wiach Buffista, you may ask? I won't tell her name, but she defines AWESOME.
Let the jealousy begin.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I'm sufficiently jealous. Are we allowed to guess?
Could it be someone with a birthday today?
A co-worker had a relative who lived alone and died by slipping in the tub and cracking their skull. It took several days for someone to realize she was missing/dead and find her body.
This would be me, except when I missed a day of krav they'd send the cavalry over.
Kat, your kids will be teased mercilessly anyway, or be the teasers. The names will have little to do with which side they fall on.
There was cake. Also a little singing. Nice cake, though. Chocolate. And a candle. I haven't blown out a candle on my birthday in a gazillion years.
Hooray for cake! I had a two-bite carrot cake this evening in your honor, and because I wanted it. It sounds like your birthday was perfectly pleasant.
Not someone with a birthday, awesome though she is. The hint was that she DEFINES awesome.

It was! I had three migraines, but they were brief and responsive to abortives. The bar might be set low, but I cleared it with flying colours.
Hmm. What's the origin of "with flying colours," I wonder...
eta: Maybe Robin's skating partner would know...
I'm glad you had a nice birthday!
I bet Robin's partner was erinaceous!
Yes, Liese! How completely lucky am I? It was great fun and she is excellent company, on the rink or off. And a styling chick who has some fab moves. I am very grateful she drove all the way from Anaheim on a rainy night after flying all the way here. We had some terrific conversation and hang time. She said to tell the LAistas she'd be emailing folks once she knows her schedule.
edit: Nevermind, Liese and ita are better with the clues than I.

The Oxford English Dictionary says "[i]t is a military metaphor for leaving the battlefield still in possession of one's flag." It apparently was an army thing from the 17th century.
