"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

This is where my friend lives [link] I just got a text message back, but I don't think he's understanding that I don't want the info for me.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Ah. He says Magnolia, Lancaster, Hilton.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

(I'm going to assume other Marriott properties apply, like Courtyard Inn)

Yup!

She also likes boutique funky hotels too- I think she's requesting Marriott as a starting point 'cause she has no idea how else to start looking.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Nora:

This is in the middle of downtown. [link]

This is a good location, close to downtown, the Galleria, and the Med Center. Easy access to Highway 59 and Loop 610. It might be cheaper than the one located in downtown. [link]

This is practically on top of the Galleria, so she could walk to go shopping. [link]

There are several other locations, but you start to get into the two airport areas, which are not terribly convenient and aren't great neighborhoods.

ETA: Funky boutique? Hmm. Lemme check some things.

SO AWESOME! Thanks, Dana and Daisy.

I swear I don't think I could do half as good a job at work without the Buffista hivemind. Of course, that's balanced out by the timesuck aspect, so... a draw.

This looks interesting. I can't vouch for the hotel, but it's in the Heights, which is very convenient to downtown, and one of the sort of funky antique counterculture areas of the city. [link]

Tripadvisor.com lists some B&Bs/Inns, and they have some reviews available.

This would be a great location and has good reviews: [link]

Here's another one in the Heights: [link]

This is closer to the Museum District: [link]

Without knowing where she's going, I'd say all of these areas should be pretty convenient if she has a car, since there are several major freeways that intersect in or near the center of town.

What about this place? Any thoughts on location/neighborhood?

Hm, that's fairly close to sort of the arts district. There are performing halls down there, the Alley theater, and a movie theater. I would guess the exact neighborhood is probably not the most hopping part of downtown at night, but I'm not sure I've ever actually been that far downtown.
