This looks interesting. I can't vouch for the hotel, but it's in the Heights, which is very convenient to downtown, and one of the sort of funky antique counterculture areas of the city.

Tripadvisor.com lists some B&Bs/Inns, and they have some reviews available.
This would be a great location and has good reviews:

Here's another one in the Heights:

This is closer to the Museum District:

Without knowing where she's going, I'd say all of these areas should be pretty convenient if she has a car, since there are several major freeways that intersect in or near the center of town.
What about this place? Any thoughts on location/neighborhood?

Hm, that's fairly close to sort of the arts district. There are performing halls down there, the Alley theater, and a movie theater. I would guess the exact neighborhood is probably not the most hopping part of downtown at night, but I'm not sure I've ever actually been that far downtown.
Awww, yay for him! I still want him & Dr. Bailey to come and run my life.
SERIOUSLY?????
Thank you for your feedback regarding the EO catalog and our recent cover.
The woman featured on the cover, Birgit (last name redacted), is a six year employee at (redacted) and our Trade Show Manager and Spokesperson. Over the years we have had numerous positive comments about Birgit and she has proven herself to possess the needed technical and social ability to showcase our products.
The photo of Birgit was certainly not meant to disgust, but rather emphasize an exciting new product launch by (redacted). Birgit is coordinating the tradeshow which will showcase these products. This line of Kinematic Optical Mounts, Table Platforms, and Mechanical Accessories are technically situated to become the standard for optical positioning equipment in the marketplace. The quality, features, and price of these products will be very difficult to compete with and, as always, we intend to keep a supply of these on the shelf for immediate delivery to support our OEM customers, National Laboratories, and Educational institutions. Needless to say, if anyone is not considering these Kinematic Optical Mounts for their positioning equipment needs, they are paying too much, dealing with difficult features, or settling for a substandard product.
We value the opinions of our customers and we evaluate the feedback in developing our future strategies. I appreciate the time you have taken to mention your concern. I hope you will take the opportunity to meet Birgit at our next tradeshow. Birgit will be presenting several technical demonstrations at the upcoming Photonics West show this month so you will have the chance to meet her in person. I think you will be impressed with her ability to support and represent woman in engineering as well as other tasks she has undertaken at (redacted).

Oh, I think that's my favorite part. "Let me interrupt your outrage for a commercial!"

I'd appreciate it a lot more if she wasn't letting her chi-chi's hang out.
