Mac Plus was the first computer that *I* purchased (step-dad gave me a TI994a, but he kept using it for pinball, so i don't really count that). It was a great machine.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I never wax nostalgic for my Texas Instruments... I forget the number... with the tape drive. I told my mom I wanted a TRS-80 but I guess she figured TRS, TI, what's the difference?

well, the TI 99/4a was $99, and that's why they bought it. The cassette drive took FOREVER to load anything. But it was fun to unplug the connection cable so it "played" the cassette thru the speaker, and drive my step-dad crazy.

I had no step dad, but the dog did that head-tilt thing that's always amusing.

Rats though, if we had the same computer as kids, I can't blame that for my dearth of tech geekery anymore.

All is well that ends in pizza.

FYI:

Best Buy National Electronics Recycling Program

Starting on February 15th, 2009 all U.S. Best Buy stores will accept for recycling most consumer electronics, including televisions and monitors up to 32”, computer CPUs and notebooks, small electronics, VCRs and DVD players, phones as well as accessories such as keyboards, mice and remotes.

A $10 recycling fee per unit will be charged for items with screens, such as televisions, laptop computers, and monitors. The consumer will instantly receive a $10 Best Buy gift card in exchange for the recycling fee. This fee does not apply for units recycled in California stores, and does not apply for any of Best Buy’s Exclusive-Branded products, such as Insignia, Dynex, and VPR Matrix.

Does hdmi pass closed captioning? I can't figure out how to toggle it with my new cable box, and the tv says not available when I click it on the tv remote.

What kind of cable box is it?

Motorola. Their pdf manual was more "check with your provider for features. Tthis is how you connect an HDMI cable to your TV".
