It's called a blaster, Will, a word that tends to discourage experimentation. Now, if it were called the Orgasmater, I'd be the first to try your basic button press approach.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

And now I'm wondering, what apps I would need to upgrade to work in 10.5.x, and how much that would cost.

I didn't have anything that worked in 10.4 and didn't work in 10.5 (it tends to go the other way, that apps won't work on an *earlier* version) -- but if you have anything that's both expensive and work-critical, you should obviously check carefully first.

Ya, I realize the bulk of what I do on my home machine is: Internet, chat, Skype, EyeTV, videos, iTunes, e-mail. When the HD crashed last year, I didn't re-install the work apps, as I have a laptop provided from work. So, I've been thinking about it. It's just money. Do I *need* to upgrade? Or should I save the cash to try and get that trike?

Adult sized tricycle. I don't have the balance for bicycle.

Adult sized tricycle. I don't have the balance for bicycle.

Huh. I've never considered that as an exercise option, but I really should.

Balance issues too? Excercise bikes are so boring.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I haz a TV question.

A couple of days ago, the HDMI-out from my cable box started acting wonky. It would either display no picture, or a slightly jittery one. (The solution to no picture was turning it off and on again until it worked and gave me the jittery one.)

I swapped the HDMI cable out with the one that was plugged into the DVD player w/ no change. (And the DVD player looked fine with either cable.)

So I swapped the HDMI cable for component and the jitteryness is gone, but I miss my gorgeous HDMI picture (component is fine, but it's noticeably softer and the colors aren't as rich). Is it worth trying a new cable at this point, or should I just call Cablevision and beg for a new box?

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

HDMI is digital, so it either works or it doesn't. It sounds like it might be the box that's the problem.

did anyone else see the prototype GM/Segway PUMA? I'd copy/paste, but iPhone can't do that. It looks like a cockpit from the MASH helicopters.
