Mal: Well, you were right about this being a bad idea. Zoe: Thanks for sayin', sir.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Does anyone have any idea how secure an iPhone wireless connection is? Assuming that you're not using an open wireless connection, is it safe to do private transactions like banking? I mean, I'm thinking that it's no different from me using my secure wireless network in my house, but I thought I'd check.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I wouldn't bank over an iPhone, but I have no idea how rooted in reality that paranoia is.

ION, does anyone know if there's a PPC-supported version of Chrome for OSX yet? Crossover Chromium is Intel-only and Google's still dragging their heels.

I doubt there ever will be. It would have to have a PPC version of their V8 JavaScript engine. Right now it only supports Intel and ARM.

Theo - thanks!

Now I'm in search of a freeware app that will let me pull some photos off my ipod. I haven't yet resorted to paying for an app that will do that, but might eventually.

Lori, did you search at Versiontracker.com? Links to and user reviews of all kinds of software/freeware/shareware, etc. for the Mac (and, IIRC, other systems): [link]

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

There are a few suggestions in this thread: [link]

disclaimer: I've never used any of 'em.

Thrive to spite them

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Vista, it's over a year old.

I turned it on this afternoon and it was fine, then I went to click on something and download something and the screen sort of winked and then everything was black and white. All of it. I restarted and the same thing.

I have a LCD monitor hooked up and the color is fine there. But there's no color (just black and white and shades of gray) on the screen of the laptop.

Any suggestions ? Is this bad?
