Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh sure, but using a separate mouse would require not using the laptop on my actual lap. Or getting some kind of lap desk. Anyway, not that simple.

All is well that ends in pizza.

It must be the day for it.

Water was just spilled on Andi's 17 inch Powerbook.

We shut it off and inverted it.

I also took out the battery.

We'll check it in the morning.

That reminds me.

Drew, if you buy a new Macbook, are you selling an old one soon thereafter?

----

Also, my Mother is wanting a cheap used Powerbook or Macbook, if anyone has a good deal on one, let me know the specs.

Since a recent power outage our DVD player no longer works.

When I switch to it with remote, it says DVD, and if I put in a disc the sound plays but not video. I can also select from the DVD menu (blindly - even though I can see if use the arrow keys and press it selects, and the sound from the appropriate portion of the menu plays)

The TV video seems to work find on cable. Things I've tried:

1) Connecting and disconnecting cables.

2) Selecting which channel is "fixed" channel for cable. Only one channel works.

3) Note when I scroll through choices of device, "ESA: is no longer one choice and it used to be". Also when I switch to DVD there is not just lettering saying DVD. Before if there was no disk loaded I got a "no disk loaded" menu.

Maybe my DVD was wrecked when the power came back on. It was bought two years ago for 35 bucks. But I suspect there is something I need to program that I'm missing. I'd be grateful for any thoughts.

Typo Boy, unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it in again.

Did that before I disconnected and reconnected cables. Did not want to connect live equipment to live TV set. Well, actually turned off surge protector. Maybe not the same thing.

Nope, unplugging invidual plugs from surge protector after turning it off, leaving them unplugged for 30 second, plugging them back in, turning on surge protector. Nada.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Are you using the same cables? I doubt it's the problem, but if you have some spares around, couldn't hurt to try.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My AVG free won't update its spyware or virus databases anymore, either scheduled or on demand. I can't find mention anywhere of Free being discontinued, but I can barely find mention of Free anywhere.

Am I SOL for free anti-virus, or should I regard this as a temporary glitch and keep hammering away?

If it doesn't work, is there anything else good and free out there? Don't want to spend money if I can possibly avoid it.
