I suspect that they sent them at screen resolution which is 72dpi and will look like hell no matter what you do to print them.

I disagree. It depends on how large the prints need to be. If Sumi is being sent images that are, say 1280x1024 (what you'd get from a cheap 1.3 megapixel camera), then as long as they're being printed at 4"x3" (or less), they'll look fine. It's not the dpi of the original photo that matters, it's the size of the shot in pixels and the size at which they need to be printed.

Help! As I've been talking about in Natter, I spilled some soup on my laptop last night. It was basically on the touchpad, so I thought I kept it from getting inside anywhere. No such luck, apparently, as my left mouse button mostly doesn't work any more. It has come and gone, but mostly doesn't do anything. I wiped it down with rubbing alcohol, which seemed to help short-term, but didn't fix the problem. Is there anything else I can do from here? I'm scared to open it up.

I don't have a suggestion, but will make an observation. External laptop touchpads, key pads, keyboards and mice are all comparatively cheap these days.

Oh sure, but using a separate mouse would require not using the laptop on my actual lap. Or getting some kind of lap desk. Anyway, not that simple.

We shut it off and inverted it.

I also took out the battery.

Since a recent power outage our DVD player no longer works.

When I switch to it with remote, it says DVD, and if I put in a disc the sound plays but not video. I can also select from the DVD menu (blindly - even though I can see if use the arrow keys and press it selects, and the sound from the appropriate portion of the menu plays)

The TV video seems to work find on cable. Things I've tried:

1) Connecting and disconnecting cables.

2) Selecting which channel is "fixed" channel for cable. Only one channel works.

3) Note when I scroll through choices of device, "ESA: is no longer one choice and it used to be". Also when I switch to DVD there is not just lettering saying DVD. Before if there was no disk loaded I got a "no disk loaded" menu.

Maybe my DVD was wrecked when the power came back on. It was bought two years ago for 35 bucks. But I suspect there is something I need to program that I'm missing. I'd be grateful for any thoughts.
