With an iPhone, you can only designate one sound per event (email, text, calendar reminder, etc.). Also, the sounds can't be altered or added, you're stuck with what they've got on the phone (unless you hack the phone). This will probably change at some point, though.

does this mean Mac folk can't be as smug anymore: Apple Recommends Antivirus Software For Mac OS X
Oh, silly omnis, we'll always find a way.
oh for sure! New office mate was trying to create a group distribution list in Outlook. He could create the list, but couldn't mail to it. it wouldn't show up in his address book. Nothing. I was very smug knowing in Mac Mail/address book, I can create a group, and right+click it and select "send e-mail to ___".
My father's got a Dell Latitude (and it's so tiny and lovable that I want to squinch it).
The wireless network in the house is working, as we can see, because I am connected to it. The Latitude is also connected to it, but any requests for websites time out. Any idea what could be causing this problem? It's running XP and IE6.
The answer turns out to be outdated firmware on the router. (Four hours later.)
