Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Vortex, your idea is genius and it would have worked if it was a conventional column to rows format, but because there are some rows that have multiple columns and some with only one column, it coverts the data into very odd tables and I spend as much time reformatting than I would copying and pasting.
that's probably why it pastes it as text, it's too much data for a simple cut and past.
Has anyone here come across a fingerprint swiping deal on a new laptop? I have one on this new HP, and none of us can figure out how to turn it off, and it's making me nuts! It's right in between the two mouse buttons on the touchpad, so needless to say, I accidentally swipe it all the freaking time.
From HP thread somewhere:
I eventually spoke to HP Support and they told me to go into the Options of HP ProtectTools Security Manager, where you can switch off the automatic capture.
New Cray supercomputer is the fastest in the world
You think your expensive, custom-built gaming PC is powerful? You think you've got the hottest computer on the block because you can run Crysis at full specs? I'm not impressed. You want to see an impressive computer? Say hello to the Cray XT Jaguar supercomputer.
It's got some pretty mind-blowing specs: 45,000 quad-core Opteron processors, 362TB of RAM, and a 10PB (petabyte) storage array. The whole thing cooks along at a serious 1.64 petaflops. It's the fastest machine on earth being used for non-classified research, but you've got to assume there are even bigger and badder machines in the deep, secret halls of government.
Sure, the CPUs and RAM are impressive, but what's the video card like?
what's the video card like?
My guess is that's what the 'XT' in the name stands for. So pro'lly it has an 80x25 character green monochrome monitor.
I eventually spoke to HP Support and they told me to go into the Options of HP ProtectTools Security Manager, where you can switch off the automatic capture.
Yeah, I think that's what finally worked, but not until I restarted the computer, which I had forgotten to do! Thanks!
Sue-
In word you can import another document-- can you do that in word perfect?
I believe that Sue should be able to import a file into her WP document. I seem to recall doing that back when I had word perfect.
Import or insert - I think you should see if you can insert a file into the document you want it. As you would if you were adding an image to the document.
Does anyone know how to copy and paste a bunch of small tables in word perfect at once?
Have you tried "Select all" and then used Control C to copy rather than the copy command? Inexplicably, Control C sometimes copies differently. Or, taking Vortex's idea a little further, can you convert table to text separated by tabs, then do the opposite in the new document?
I read an article once about the Cray supercomputers in which they interviewed one of the users about the speed. He said, "At first, it was 'Oh, shit, that's fast,' but after a few weeks, I was going 'Come on, come on."
