I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I was wondering if anyone could help with a Wordpress issue, please. I'm working with Wordpress 2.6.1, trying to adjust the default/Kubrick theme to the design I want. Everything's going along fine--I've moved the sidebar from the right to the left, the fonts are the right color, and the header graphic looks fine. But when I try to make the blue sidebar expand along with the longer posts it doesn't do so I've tried putting in a repeating background image that puts blue and white where I want it, set to repeat-y, and it's not showing. I've tried faux columns, and they don't show. (The php files are separate, so I may not be putting the <div id="wrap"> in the right place.) Suggestions, please?

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

Calli, one way to fake it is to make the div a minimum height. Unfortunately, if you do that, it will always be that height or more, but never less.

Another way to fake it is to put a transparent gif in the sidebar of the size you want--but that will have the same problem of being X tall even if the post is only B tall.

The last way to do it that I know of is to put enough plugins in the sidebar that the content fills it up to a certain height.

Most of the WordPress installs I've seen have just enough sidebar to contain the content and are quite often much shorter than the post.

Thank you. Yeah, the site I'm building via wordpress has a ton of links in the sidebar. I was thinking of trying to get fancy and shove a bunch of them up under reasonable subheads as drop-downs, but this gives me as good an excuse as any to not do so.

Is anyone else having problems with Daily Kos today?

The Application Error box I keep getting from Internet Explorer is:

"The instruction at "0x6372c6f0" referenced memory at "0x00000024". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program

I did just finish a purge of my cookies cache, but I'm not having problems at any other site, just DailyKos. Any ideas?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Sounds like the site's having server problems. Probably nothing you can do on your end.

Is it possible for me to insert a photograph from flickrr to livejournal?

Thanks for the reassurance on the DailyKos issue--it's working for me now! I was just worried I messed up somehow when I purged the cookies cache (over 5000 of them, wow!).

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

sumi, I do it all the time -- there's an option in your preferences under "Extending Flickr" that lets you specify which blogs you can post pictures directly to.

This may be a pro-only feature -- I dunno.

Anyway, if you have that filled in (it will need your LJ password), you get an option on each of your pictures to "blog this" and then you can fill out the optional message and post it directly.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Is it possible for me to insert a photograph from flickrr to livejournal?

For an LJ entry you should have a "blog this" link above the photo on its solo page. Since you've not set this up yet (I'm assuming), it will walk you through setting up a login, etc. The posted result looks like this.

Assuming I've read your question right.
