Is anyone else Steve-stalking today? It'll be the new notebooks that have been leaked and (I'm guessing) more on Snow Leopard, but any other predictions?

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
There's a good chance I'll end up buying something today.
Not at all. In fact, I think I murdered a toaster in previous life, and its spirit gets even with me in this life, via computers
I'd recommend staying away from Linux then, it is more user friendly than ever, but not on the level of Windows and OSX yet.
Stevestalking: They've just spent a loooong time talking about (a) their education market share and (b) their case manufacturing process (the latter does sound incredibly cool, to be fair) -- this makes me think it'll be the new notebooks and no other big suprises. They're filling time.
Light weight and mega graphics improvements. Resolve. Crumbling.
Crumbled.
Well fuck, if I'm reading it correctly they didn't announce a new 17" and they dropped the matte display. I really hope that's wrong.
You're not wrong, ND. Sorry. The existing 17" MacBook will still be on sale, at least for now.
So much for upgrading anytime soon. I can't imagine givine up the 1920x1200 display on this, and I use it outside often enough that a glossy screen will be a hangup. Hopefully this isn't the end of the 17" it's just a delay.
Apparently 17" will be updated too -- it'll just be build-your-own rather than off-the-shelf configurations. I think this is actually a sensible move for them (although I know you love your 17") -- I hear a lot more people saying they want smaller, not larger, laptops, so I get not keeping them in stock all over the place.
OTOH, sounds like the matte screen is, indeed, gone. I share your outdoor mac user pain. Not that I'm getting any of 'em any time soon -- mine is just through 1 year of a 3-year replacement cycle.
(Of course my source for this is various event liveblogs. Grain of salt, vague disclaimer, yadda yadda.)
