We can come by between classes. Usually I use that time to copy over my class notes with a system of different colored pens. But it's been pointed out to me that that's, you know...insane.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Sorry, I'd be as much at sea as you are!

Wiping a hard disk and reinstalling XP is something that a small local computer repair shop should be able to do, though.

All is well that ends in pizza.

JZ, have you rebooted?

Also, try running Disk Utility and repair permissions, and then do a repair disk.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Yup, yup, yup, did all those before posting the first plea for help, Daniel. Hopefully the Apple store will be open on Labor Day, with at least one or two geniuses on hand at the bar, because all my "This usually works" workarounds aren't.

Hey. New board.

Can you successfully install any other programs? Maybe try installing Thunderbird, since it probably has a similar install procedure - you can always uninstall it later. It sounds like something in the install process itself is breaking, not connected to Firefox directly.

Technically the install/uninstall process on a Mac is

1. download disk image

2. Expand disk image

3. drag firefox to the extension folder.

To uninstall, drag Firefox to the trash.

JZ, do you have stuffit expander? I could make a zip file of the firefox.app and you could unzip it.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Actually, Macs should unzip without stuffit now, IIRC.

(sorry, out until just now taking Matilda to her first movie, Wall-E, which turned out to be a total happy success, yay!)

Daniel, you are a kindly genius, and I send you all sorts of virtual kisses and hugs and squeeings. WindSparrow is totally right about your world's bestness!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Whee - internets are working again! I unplugged and rebooted *everything* (modem, router, all peripherals) and whatever was clogging up the wireless tubes seems to have disappeared. Whew!
