Further experimentation with the GPS on 2.0 (with a passenger operator in the car) reveals that it is capable of tracking movement without forcing a new pinpoint (by tapping the "pinpoint" button).
Accuracy suffers a bit while the unit is in motion, but it was quite impressive.
And with multiple pinpoints around town, I was nailing my location within 100 feet or less.

(Still planning on a 3G, well, eventually -- but that's because I don't have a first-gen to noodle around playing GPS games with.)
I think within about a year, I'll actually get a 3G, but the need to get one this week has abated.
OK, taking the firmware plunge...
The Safari randomly crashing issue still isn't fixed for me, which is a bit annoying.
Hmm... Not happy to hear that, Kev. Hasn't crashed on me yet, but I'm sure I'll put it through its paces.
so, the Firefox thing. Other than sticking it to the Microsoft man, why should I use it? I'm currently on IE7 on XP.
It worked without a hitch! My music is syncing now.
Safari is the only browser on the iPhone.
