Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Well, I've completed the install of the new software on the phone, but now something is not seeing something....
iTunes can see the phone is connected, but can't actually see the phone itself, or the phone can't see the iTunes store through the iTunes interface, or something...
basically, the actually phone settings page won't show up in iTunes, and, as yet, I can't actually put new stuff on the phone. Or something.
Might have to eject again and restart the computer. Let's hope that does the trick.
Well, after being down for a few hours, my iPhone is working again.
eta: i had to plug my phone in and then disconnect it. Eventually, it worked.
Yeah, I've unplugged my phone and tried to start it up, but I'm basically getting an "Unactivated iPhone" screen.
It will only let me make an emergency call, and wants me to connect to iTunes, which isn't connecting the phone to the store.
Dear Buffistas,
Please stop making Jess want an iPhone. Jess does not need a new phone, and she already has an iPod Touch which can be upgraded w/ the new software.
Kthxbye,
Jess' Lizard Brain
Sean, that's what happened to me. but just a few minutes ago, I finally managed to connect.
I'ma restart everything and see how that goes (I had to totally restart in order to get the firmware *onto* the phone after download, so it should work....).
Grrrr....

Yeah, piss off, I can't even get mine to admit that there's a version newer than 1.1.4.
I don't have a cellphone and I confess I'm feeling the schadenfreude in a smug sort of Luddite way.
