That's funny, since nothing on a Mac seems common-sense to me.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Meara, the WEP is a password that is actually generated (typically) by another password. Others here will have directions for being able to see your router's WEP set up.
(It's been a long time since I owned a MAC, and the instructions probably differ from PC)

meara, what OS is your friend running? And what kind (brand/model) of router is it?
XP and my router is ...uh...a Belkin Wireless G router? (I ended up just doing some work for a while and giving her my mac to use)
meara -- Did you try padding the password with trailing blank spaces?

check your router settings. if you have restricted access based on MAC address that might be preventing her from logging in.
Hi. Has the iPhone 3G convo been had here (or elsewhere)? I did a bit of skimming but saw nada. I'm interested in people's thoughts, suggestions for alternatives, etc.
Matters are complicated for Canuckians in that there is only one GSM provider here, and Apple won't be selling the phone -- you have to get it with a data package from the GSM provider. Said provider wanted $60 per month for the basic "unlimited" 6Gb data package, but under public pressure has reduced that to $30 a month.
It belongs here -- we just haven't discussed it much since the keynote watch-n-post. Speaking for myself, I'm sorely tempted, but I'm not due for a handset upgrade on my non-iPhone AT&T contract until the winter, so I'm holding off until then rather than paying the non-subsidy price.
Also, HI!! It's been way too long since we've happened through the same thread!
