To commemorate a past event, you kill and eat an animal. It's a ritual sacrifice, with pie.

All is well that ends in pizza.

OS9 to OSX is a bit tricky, but it can be done.

Let me think and google for a few.

Before I do that, I should ask.

Can the os9 machine see the internet?

You have to have both the Network control panel and the Appleshare control panel correct.

If you have Classic, you might even be able to connect with that!

Nope.

I do not have a "Network" control panel, or "AppleShare" control panel. AppleShare is part of the Chooser for me. I have the following control panels:

AppleTalk

Configuration Manager

Dial Assist

File Exchange

File Sharing

Internet

Modem

Remote Access

TCP/IP

OK, found "Network Browser", and it shows hope. It has a thingie for 192.168.1.1 which is the IP of the airport that it's plugged into. But not showing the iMac. When I try to open 192.168.1.1, it shows nothing. The other options are "AppleTalk" (empty), "Local Network" which has "Local Services" which is empty.

Curious, it has a "Connect to iDisk..." in a pop down at the top of the window... but of course OS 9 predates iDisk.

Did YouTube make some changes that prevent their videos from being downloaded? I've tried three different copy websites, and they're all returning errors on multiple vids.

Aha. I was misremembering. (My classic is down right now)

What is Appletalk set at? TCP/IP?

Also, if you go into your OSX machine System preferences, what is the IP showing for the ethernet setup in the Network section?

And is Appletalk turned on in that same section for your ethernet?

Our wings are not tired

OS X does Appletalk you just have to enable it. Under your network system prefs choose the Ethernet controller and there should be a setting for Make Appletalk Active or some such.
