omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

ok, first reaction was : WANT. Second was: you REALLY need white walls then. And forget about the popcorn ceilings. If I had that cool, open floor plan- loftish place, that would totally make sense. And if it has a speaker built into it, and it can play the iPod, it'd be a neat party trick, to have roving music.

Any idea on price? Or is it "if you have to ask, you can't afford" deals?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

GET THE FUCK OUT OF TOWN.

How random and seemingly pointless is that? I can telnet into my TiVo. I feel compelled to write something in Perl to take advantage of that.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

That is pretty cool. I can use telnet to have my TiVo record something, or change the channel. Because... it just is.

Our wings are not tired

It in Tivo now because high end home theatre intalls use Crestron and AMX controllers which are somewhat built around RS232 and now Telnet control of devices. I could control Tivo from an SFX machine.

I wonder if I could use my 25 year old Radio Shack Model 100 laptop to control my TiVo....

Sweet.

Hmm. Obviously you can write web apps that can control your TiVo, and I guess I could write scripts that fire off in response to my cellphone ringing (Bluephone Elite has it connected to my Mac) and pause the TV. Or when I answer a Skype call, maybe. I wonder if that can be done...

Sean, were you looking for a laptop cooler stand? How about this? I mean, filled with cold water it should work.

Snerk. My computer is *water cooled*.

Nah. Actually, I just got a new desk, and the laptop has been running quite cool since I started using it. It's just laminated particle board, but blonde instead of dark, as my old desk was. That plus some design differences, and my laptop has been running ten degrees F cooler of late. Good enough for me.
