Is there any chance that the computer hasn't been rebooted or samba re-init'd since making the change?
Nope. I reload after every edit. And it has picked up all the changes I've made wrt adding shares.
Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

I'm not sure what is going on. The workgroup setting is correct. You might try setting..
domain master = yes preferred master = yes
...to wrest control of VELVET from Vista and see if things straighten themselves out. It might take a minute or so after re-initing. Again, I'm not sure what is up, so this is just a guess.
Thanks. I'm making those changes and heading off to work.
If I wanted to do a paper on how the iPhone was designed, is there documentation out there or is it classified? I'd like to see prototypes, info about the process...
Hmm... didn't Wired do a big article a while back?
eta: This is it: [link]
Might be a good place to start....
neat trick I just accidently came across in Apple's Address Book. If you hold down the option button while arrowing down the list, if the contact is in a group, it will highlight. I found it very cool. I thought I'd share.
I spent 4.5 hours last night trying to set up my DSL. This was not helped by my ISP giving me the wrong %^&* password. Anyway, I've now got it working if I plug the ethernet cord directly into my laptop, but I can't get it to work with the airport. I used the airport before with my dialup just fine, but now, most of the time it doesn't recognize that the airport is there at all, much less connect to it. I'm using a MacBook with Tiger. Any suggestions?
I really have no idea what the appropriate thread for this announcement is - could be here, could be Natter, could be B&A:
NBC is auctioning off post-production & office equipment from Passions this Saturday.
UNIVERSAL CITY, CA - April 21, 2008 - NBC Universal Television DVD, Music and Consumer Products Group in partnership with Premiere Props, is holding an industrial auction featuring millions of dollars worth of high-end post production equipment from Universal Media Studios' daytime drama "Passions."
A wide variety of post production equipment, printers, copiers, sewing machines, power tools, saws, electric production golf and utility carts, an electric forklift, architectural copier, drafting tables and much more from "Passions," will be made available to the public.
Own the Xerox machine Passions scripts were copied on! The disc duplicator tower that once dubbed Passions dailies!
Anyway, it made me laugh.
I'm kinda jealous of you AT&T iPhone people right now, but I still burn with anger at the crap customer service I got from them. So it's all good.
Gud, Blaise is still in the MSHOME workgroup. I guess since stuff works and all I'll leave it be, but it does rankle.
