Seems my Linksys router is not playing well with others. Model Network Everywhere NR041.
Network Everywhere is now owned by Linksys? I wonder if their old support line still works...

Yep, the number is working.
New XP question:
Upon initial digging, I have discovered I do have at least one unused license key, but it's for XP Home, and I'd prefer to install XP Pro. Can I use an XP Home key to install XP Pro?
Why do you prefer XP Pro? I haven't found much difference between them.
omnis, DH suggests connecting the WAN port to the iMac just to see if you get the green light confirming the physical connection. If not, port is bad. If you do, it's some other problem. If that gets you any closer to a working router I am not sure, to be honest.

Oops, forgot to mention in my troubleshooting. After doing the first round of resets, I saw net activity blinks on the LED's, such that when I tried to load google, the router port for the iMac blinked, then I saw blink on the "ethernet" for the modem. Likewise, when I tried to renew DHCP on the router, there was an initial flurry of blinks (maybe 3 or 4), then a whole lot of waiting, then the screen on the computer would say DHCP failed, try again later.

Um, it's an OLD router.

ya, that will be tough. Thanks for the info DC!
Pssst, DC, is it you that likes old macs? In my house, I have a 5300c laptop, Quadra 650, Radius 81/110, and another clone, forget the model. Any interest (once I figure out how to extract data off said models)?
if I buy something from itunes and then delete it off my computer will itunes remember I bought it and let me download it again?
