omnis, DH suggests connecting the WAN port to the iMac just to see if you get the green light confirming the physical connection. If not, port is bad.

Oops, forgot to mention in my troubleshooting. After doing the first round of resets, I saw net activity blinks on the LED's, such that when I tried to load google, the router port for the iMac blinked, then I saw blink on the "ethernet" for the modem. Likewise, when I tried to renew DHCP on the router, there was an initial flurry of blinks (maybe 3 or 4), then a whole lot of waiting, then the screen on the computer would say DHCP failed, try again later.

Network Everywhere is now owned by Linksys?

Um, it's an OLD router.

I did the push button momentary, push button extended, and software resets. All for naught.

Sorry if I've made you repeat yourself to no purpose, I'm being a conduit for the DH's ideas and I don't necessarily know what he means. He now agrees that your router is, to put it technically, "probably fucked". Sorry, dude.

lol. Ya, I was suspecting. Especially as I wrote it out here more and more. But not being an IT person, per se, I was hoping there was something I could tinker with.

So I guess the question now is. Airport or Time Capsule? Of course I have money for neither, so it's a down the road question. But, has anyone using time capsule found it all that much better than just hooking up a HD to the Airport? And will Timecapsule work with 10.4.11 or will I have to jump to the next cat level?
