Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Do not buy a new TV or TIVO box until later this year. The latest technology called Tru2Way needs to be included in order to have it talk to all your devices. I do not think it is on sale until November.

In order to compete better with DirectTV, Time Warner is in the process of rolling out a technology called "switched video" to its markets. Right now, TW broadcasts every single one of its channels to all of its customers, and with a CableCArd, your TiVo can tune into whatever channel it wants to.

With switched video, the cable company doesn't transmit certain less-watched channels to the customer unless the cable box asks for it. This frees up bandwidth so that the cable company can offer more channels.

This is all transparent to the customer -- except you specifically need a cable box to make it work. If you have a device with a cable card, like a TiVo, it doesn't know how to talk back to the cable plant and tell it send it start sending it the TV channel.

So if you're in a region of the country that has switched video, and you have a TiVo, there will be a certain number of channels that you won't be able to tune into, unless it has this Tru2Way technology implemented.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

That sucks!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Why do people have to piss around with stuff that affects my home entertainment system? I thought I'd hit a steady state where I could stay for a nice while.

Oh god, it burns, it burns!

That's one of the dorkiest things I've ever seen. I wonder if they hired out for impersonators, or found talent within. That is the video with Courtney Cox, right? She's the chick leading with her elbows?

I love this USB drive.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

That's actually really interesting. If only they would offer me a discount for all the channels I'm not watching and taking up their bandwidth with. Rassinfrassin' Comcast raised their rates again.

I love this USB drive.

Nice.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yes. Also, 10 or 20 years ago, my uncle was totally in the other-computer-company version of that band. One of their big hits? "DEC Stinks." Huge hit at sales conference.

no joke, P-C. our cable bill was more expensive than our gas and electric bill put together. what the hell kind of sense does that make? we could probably throw in the water bill too. it's nuts.

My monthly bill is $130+ for Internet, digital cable, and DVR. This is without any premium channels! Just the basic Digital Classic lineup!

Has anyone used the AT&T U-Verse? It appears to be, like, half the price, but it just seems to be good to be true.

WTF, you guys -- I can't get the LaCie software to run. I've double-clicked on the desktop shortcut, tried to go in from the start menu, whatever, and nothing. Am I doing something wrong??

How is it that I'm a "tech whiz" at work?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I love this USB drive.

My fear with that is I'd leave it someplace or someone would find it on my desk and do me a "favor" and throw it away....

Seriously. I uninstalled and reinstalled the backup software and restarted the computer, and nothing. Can I just drag and drop my files onto the drive?

Edit: That's what I'm doing and it seems to be working. Fucking computers.
