Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I just deleted an email from my BB gmail. I refreshed gmail on my computer a minute later and it showed that it had been deleted.

What I want is going the other way -- I want to delete an email from gmail on my computer, and have it disappear from my BB.

Same result when I just tried it. I don't see why it wouldn't be the case. Your email is sitting on gmail's servers. Maybe the blackberry cached the inbox for a time, but when it refreshes, it should be checking in with gmail.

Just tried setting up the BlackBerry to access gmail through IMAP, following the instructions on the gmail site, and now it's not getting the messages at all. I'm gonna try just starting over.

Looks like you've got it set up as IMAP. As Vortex said, if it's set up as POP, I don't think it works the same way

OK, I set it up as IMAP, following the instructions on the gmail site. Waited a few minutes, and the BB recognized it and got the most recent test email I'd sent to the gmail address. I deleted the email from gmail on the computer, and now I've waited about 15 minutes, and it's still on the BB.

May be a stupid question, but have you refreshed it?

Not a stupid question, since I just got it a few hours ago and am still figuring out how it works. How do you make it refresh?

On mine it's a menu option when you're in the inbox.

Thank you! I tried "Reconcile Now," and it didn't do anything immediately, but like a minute later, the message disappeared!

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Hil, the only thing that's wonky with IMAP and Gmail is the fact that there is a delay receiving your email. It's a Gmail issue, not a BB one, but I went back to POP access when I'd have to wait up to 10 minutes to get a new email.

As for you first concern, I usually manually delete the email on the BB that's already been deleted from the account on a computer. There's lots of stuff out there that talks about the Gmail/BB issues that you should be able to find via Google. Also, there are some forums that have been very helpful with mine (if you can ignore the occasional instance of chatspeak and bad grammar): Crackberry.com, Blackberryforums.com, and HowardForums.com.
