So, I keep killing DVD players. That is, I buy and ruin about three per year. I went from buying the ultra cheap $30.00 ones to ones that are more expensive, but marked down. I suspect I kill them because I fall asleep with the DVD on, and even thought I can set my times to turn the TV off, the DVD player is playing and playing and playing.
So-- a) does anyone know of a DVD player with a timer and b) do we think I would be better off just buying the cheap ones over and over?
I've been known to leave my DVD player on (and paused on a DVD) for a week or so. I think if I pause it for more than a few minutes, the drive stops spinning, as I can hear it spinning up when I unpause it after a long wait.
My current player was a moderately priced one from Radio Shack.
Yeah, I do the same. Mine's a thirty dollar Walmart special that's lasted about four years now. But to be honest it gets very little use.

Ok- if everyone does this, I am not sure how I am destroying these DVD players! I have to buy a new one every four months or so, and last night my most recent DVD player has now decided that everything I put in it is a bad disc!
I would suspect your house voltage, Sophia. Have all of your dead players been plugged into the same house/dwelling?
Do you have a surge protector for it?
Or is your house built on top of an old cemetery,
and they didn't move the bodies?
That doesn't make sense anyway. If they didn't move the bodies, they would have run across them when excavating the foundations of the houses in the development.
Plus it wasn't even a poltergeist anyway. Stupid movie....

Yes
Do you have a surge protector for it?
and no
And is my house going to catch fire! I hate electricity!
D'oh! My reset linksys wasn't locked down enough and screwed up the school network. I am in trouble. Luckily the IT guy is being really nice about it, but I feel like a twit.
I decided to splurge on myself yesterday and got the upgrade to leopard, and airport base and airport card at the mac store yesterday.
I updated my OS, but then I was sleepy and so didn't really understand how to set up the airport. Do I just put the card in, plug the airport into my modem and go? Is it as simple as I think it is? I'm tired of being tethered to my desk!
That's how I remember it, Allyson. Crazy easy. Loves the macs!
