What's an easy way to produce better looking and higher resolution trend graphs than Excel?
I would not mind an answer to that question myself. About twelve years ago, I would have answered Harvard Graphics. Don't know what the answer is today. Also years ago VFP put out a charting program that had all sort of presentation options that other charting programs did not have - basically substituting meaningful symbols for bars and data points. For example you could do bar charts with coins, dollar bills, people, food items... As a database addin it was not a commercial success, and then MS took it over, though the charting program was already so dead I don't think that made any difference.
Anyway I would love even an answer to Toms question. But if anyone knows of a program that could do the other stuff too, I have a lot of use for being able to do bar charts that use dollar bills instead of just bars.

Well there are recent versions of Harvard Graphics. I'm just not familiar with them. My intent was to say "12 years ago I would have known the answer, and it would have been .." not "12 years ago that was the right answer, and today it is not". For all I know the latest version of Harvard Graphics may rock.

I've been using the latest Firefox 3 beta quite a lot on my Mac. It's really good, I think. Although the lack of extensions is annoying.
Mine have been getting updates to compliance all week. They will come in time.

I've been using the latest Firefox 3 beta quite a lot on my Mac. It's really good, I think. Although the lack of extensions is annoying.
It's the first version of Firefox that feels even close to as snappy as Safari or Camino for me. I've never ben able to use Firefox for more than a day or two before I switched back until this release. So for me, any extensions are pretty cool.
My new Firefox wishlist has two elements: 1) crash less. Beta 4 crashes on me at least twice a day. 2) Use the Mac-setup Network options. I have to use a proxy at school and have it set up as a separate location. For Camino or Safari, switching is as easy as Apple Menu->Locations->School, and I'm done. Now I have to do that (for e-mail, IM) THEN go into Firefox's network preferences and switch the proxy on. Even with the addition of an extension like FoxyProxy, there's extra clicking. Annoying.

So, I keep killing DVD players. That is, I buy and ruin about three per year. I went from buying the ultra cheap $30.00 ones to ones that are more expensive, but marked down. I suspect I kill them because I fall asleep with the DVD on, and even thought I can set my times to turn the TV off, the DVD player is playing and playing and playing.
So-- a) does anyone know of a DVD player with a timer and b) do we think I would be better off just buying the cheap ones over and over?
