Bah. Here I am, on my broken MacBook, because the internet access on my Mac Mini is frelled. About 6 or 9 months ago, Comcast had to come out and reinstall my internet. The guy had me run some special Comcast software on my Mini to activate my account. (No idea what it was.) Anyway, it didn't work, but we got the connection set up the normal way. But now, everything on the internet I try to get to gets redirected to Comcast. Every web page, every URL I ping ends up at the same place. I checked all the obvious network settings but everything looks normal. Reboot didn't help. So I guess there's some Comcast application doing this.

It's a first-generation Mini (Power PC) running 10.4.something....
eta: Bah. It's a known issue with Comcast software on a Mac. Requires IE 5 (no really) to run their stupid software. Which is why it never worked for me. Still haven't figured out how to get it off....

Could there be something in "autoformat" or "autoformat as you type" that causes this to happen?
ION, looks like I can get a new LCD screen for my MacBook for $300. Or about $185 on eBay (also new). Looks like the replacement is fairly simple.

Der. It wasn't a what, but a where. On the main screen of Outlook navigating to Tools/Options/Spelling and changing the auto stuff there doesn't make a difference. Being in a reply or a newly composed messaged does.
The latter makes sense, but where am I affecting by making the changes off the main screens?

That did cross my mind, especially with the new Apple laptops out today. But I wanna put off getting a new one for a little while longer. Maybe until a smaller Macbook Pro comes out....
Too bad it's not under warranty. I'd love to take it to a Genius Bar and say, "I don't know what happened - I just booted it up and it looked like this." (This would be more funny if I posted a picture of the screen.)
ita, have you tried putting a space before your name? Could it be some wanky auto-cap on the first letter of a new line that can't be turned off?

It's fixed now that I found the correct place to save options for the Word editor used in email composition.

it. That's correcting the language¹ English (U.S.), and I suppose my general normal.dot settings for everyday Word docs.
If I create a new message,
Tools\AutoCorrect Options\AutoCorrect\Capitalize first letter of sentences
is acting on Email: English(U.S.) and that seems to have taken across the board.
¹: At least I'm assuming that's a language. I can't find it from ToolsLanguage in Word on that computer.
