Does Windows XP setup start from CD, but it then falls over?
Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

It starts for the CD, then says an upgrade is in process. When I try to continue the upgrade or run repair, it wants the CD, but says it's not there.
Does the version of CD you have match the version of Windows you have? (Ie home, professional, media centre?)
I have nothing to offer on the xp troubleshooting front, but I was curious if is there was anyway to download videos from YouTube? Much like fics, there are vids I want to make sure I never lose track of.

I'm back into Windows, and all my data seems to be there, but I've lost every frelling setting. I started this at 10 a.m. and dog knows how long it's going to take me to reset up everything and figure out all those damn passwords.
@#$% computers.
@#$% Windows, most accurately.
Oh, and Ginger... Now that you are back into windows, I recommend TweakUI [link] it lets you designate an account to autologin on boot and a dozen other tweaks.
You can use it for the one thing or many. Just download, install and then run the program find the autologin section. Screenshots here: [link]
