Oh, smacked in the noggin with a 2x4 wrapped in velvet. Yeah, that's what it felt like.

The status is NOT quo.

Hmm, okay, thanks. I would like him to go to AT&T since then we'd be on the same plan and could talk free, but I didn't realize that Best Buy didn't have those plans. I will have to ponder.

As far as not wanting something fancy goes, his best bet would probably be to sign up with a contract and get one of the free phones, which tend to be pretty no-frills (though most of them will still have cameras).
Yeah, I was thinking this, too.
Which still leaves him with a gift certificate to spend...would he have any use for a Bluetooth headset?
He would, but whether he would actually use it is another question entirely.

Our wings are not tired

Best buy has AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Virgin, and Go Mobile, and possibly Boost Mobile. He has plenty of options there.

Do you think he would prefer a flip phone or a candy bar phone?

The status is NOT quo.

Probably a flip phone so he doesn't have to lock/unlock it.

Also, I'm online and have a little time free if you're around.

The Nokia 2610 is a totally basic phone on the AT&T plan, not a flip phone though. It doesn't even have a camera.

Compassionately intolerant

I can't remember what it was called but last year I remember seeing ads for a phone that was just...a phone...with larger buttons for older folks. If I ever get a cell phone, it will probably be one like that.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Hmmm. Daniel. Say I succeed in removing the HD without frying myself, then what happens?

Then you send it to one of us and we try to get your data off of it.

or you can about $15-$20 on an adapter that will let you hook it up to your own computer and pull your data off, if the HDD is in working order. [link]

Or even a hard drive enclosure. and make it a portable hard drive.

The thing is, if the hard drive itself isn't dead, and if it was only the computer that died, you get access to your data.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Hmm, I have a problem with my iPhone. When I plug it into the dock, it charges... but doesn't appear in iTunes under sources. So it won't sync. And I can't do 'Restore' or change any of the options, because it's not there.

The only thing I can think of is that I upgraded to Leopard yesterday. This sucks.
