Yup. My last two have been Toshiba Satellite - my sister still uses the old one which I think I bought in 2001.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I'm typing on a Toshiba Qosmio right now! My last couple laptops were Toshiba too.
My last one was a turkey it was a 6100 I think. DH had the same model. There was some class action thing and I ended up getting the current machine for next to nothing because of the credit they gave me. Can't say anything bad about them since they made good when I had problems.
I'm typing on my new Toshiba Satellite right now. It's taking a bit to get used to. It's much bigger than my work computer. I managed to adjust the brightness of the screen, thank jeebus.
So the new 'puter has Vista. Initially, I'm not seeing the hatred. I mean, it's different, but whatev. Of course, I want to figure out if I want to keep it before I start doing stuff to the new computer. As I understand it, if I decide to go back to XP, I will have to wipe Ripper (the new laptop. the desktop is Giles),so I don't want to bother to do a bunch of stuff and have to redo.
I just checked my credit card statement. I've spent about $120 on Kindle books in the last month. Oops. Maybe having extremely easy access to guilty pleasure reading ISN'T such a good thing.
It's been quite the day!
Following on my tale of woe in re: my dead eMac...for lo, it is dead. So dead, data retrieval is not possible.
After some real sadness, I've decided to embrace it as a fresh-start opportunity.
Two people gave me two computers today...so I'm doing okay!
The first is a 14 inch iBook. It's G3, but fully functional and really easy to use.
The second is a G4 power mac (2002, mirrored doors, pci) with a combo drive.
Along with the G4, came a 21 inch Samsung SyncMaster 1100df monitor. Huge, in every way.
My questions are:
How do I add memory to the G4?
The monitor is not very sharp...what are the best settings?
I've been all over the Apple and Samsung sites, not to mention google, but I'm not finding what I need.
Anybody have experience with these models?
That was dumb.
I found the memory slots but the memory I have doesn't fit. Curses.

A lot of the things people complain about can a: be disabled; or b: are driver issues/app compat issues. The latter will work itself out in time, as it historically has when major OS changes have occurred.
PS, for anyone using Vista and having issues, I strongly recommend using the Vista help and how to site. (Use the search box on the left hand side of the screen, BTW. It's the best way to find the content you need quickly, in my opinion.) (I mean, you could just ask one of the Buffistasofties, which would be me and Jilli, but honestly, we'd probably just search help.)
I'm not running it at home (and probably won't be for at least six months, unless I get a new desktop), but I'm using it on 2/3s of my work computers, and am fairly pleased with its in the field performance.
I was all hot in the ass to get rid of it (I'd been a victim of Windows Me, I didn't want to go through that again), but I can't see what's so objectionable about it. I mean, i don't like change, but it's not that hard.
My issues with Vista mostly have to do with the driver issue. I'm planning to install it on one of my iMacs and do a bunch of testing with the software I use.
the big problem - seems to be the certification issue ( which might be gone now) a 911 site tested it - on the day the certification server was down - no certification, no can use. DH isn'thome fo r me to check the details
