Does anyone have any thoughts on Toshiba laptops? What about Lenovo? My older neighbor is looking, and I don't want to steer her wrong. The prices and specs are essentially the same.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Toshiba is generally very well regarded, from what I found when I researched. I ended up with a Toshiba Satellite.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Avoid the Toshiba Tecra. My Lenovo is awesome, and I love it.

Okay, I powered down and pulled the case open. There's no fan on the graphics card, and the CPU fan seems fine. I blew out a bunch of dust from the case, but none of the fans are clogged. I'm starting to wonder if the power supply is crapping out.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

My little brother got a Toshiba Satellite in 2002, and it is still going strong. I just got a Toshiba Satellite (P205-S7469) in December, and like it a lot.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Toshiba laptops?

My three laptops have all been Toshiba. The first two lasted over 5 years apiece. I only bought the second because I cracked the screen on the first, and to fix it would have cost almost as much as a new laptop. I only bought the second because I would have had to upgrade the hard drive and software to play my iTunes, and again, it seemed better just to upgrade the whole thing.

In short, Toshiba laptops last.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yup. My last two have been Toshiba Satellite - my sister still uses the old one which I think I bought in 2001.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm typing on a Toshiba Qosmio right now! My last couple laptops were Toshiba too.

My last one was a turkey it was a 6100 I think. DH had the same model. There was some class action thing and I ended up getting the current machine for next to nothing because of the credit they gave me. Can't say anything bad about them since they made good when I had problems.

I'm typing on my new Toshiba Satellite right now. It's taking a bit to get used to. It's much bigger than my work computer. I managed to adjust the brightness of the screen, thank jeebus.

So the new 'puter has Vista. Initially, I'm not seeing the hatred. I mean, it's different, but whatev. Of course, I want to figure out if I want to keep it before I start doing stuff to the new computer. As I understand it, if I decide to go back to XP, I will have to wipe Ripper (the new laptop. the desktop is Giles),so I don't want to bother to do a bunch of stuff and have to redo.

Hey. New board.

I just checked my credit card statement. I've spent about $120 on Kindle books in the last month. Oops. Maybe having extremely easy access to guilty pleasure reading ISN'T such a good thing.
