Umm, this is fiction, right?
I doubt it. Fact stranger than fiction out there. It makes it very difficult to come in after a disaster because the client is on the defensive and assumes all things computer are going to destroy their business and life.
I'm a bad nerd. I have so many toys that I haven't taken the time to learn how to use. Need a time generating gadget.
I have 2 questions-
1- where can I go to learn how to "rip" or whatever you do to DVD's to put them on your computer
2- is it legal/ethical to put DVD's on your computer for the purposes of putting them on your i-pod (not sharing them), or should I be buying separate itunes versions?

Legally it's a gray area, but ethically it's COMPLETELY within the bounds of fair use, even if you have to break copy protection to do it.
If you're a Mac user, I recommend Handbrake for ripping DVDs because you can rip them directly into iPod format instead of fiddling about with VOB files. I'm sure there's a Windows product that does the same thing (or maybe even a Windows version of Handbrake?)
I'm pretty sure there is a Windows Handbrake now -- and I second the recommendation.
Thank you amy and Jessica! Now I may be able to see Something Blue whenever I like!
I wonder how much I can automate this process of getting stuff ready for the Apple TV. I think it was streaming the video (I synced Lilith with the PC, not the Mac with torrents) and it did very well, so I don't have to worry about actually moving the file over.
Can Applescript help me here? I've never looked into that. But I'd love to be able to poll a folder for new files, feed them through iSquint (is that the best of free breed?), and then add them to my iTunes library automatically.
Completely unrelatedly, Nikon Capture 4 would allow me, amongst other things, to control my D50 from my camera from my laptop. At the very least I'd like to be able to see the picture I just took up on the laptop screen so that I can see it in better quality to help me make decisions about the next one. This would be in a tripod-assisted configuration, for the record.
Anything less than $150 out there for the Mac?
