I'd like to iPod my library. I'd like to have every book I own (or have out from the library) available to me at any time. I bore really really quickly, and even without a long bus or a train commute there are enough times per week where I find myself wanting reading material that makes me feel it would be practical for me. But it would have to be on a par with the size of a current paperback, otherwise I'm not carrying it around.
Really, when I look at it, I'm an unsolvable problem. I am two pretty distinct book customers.
MacHeads. Seems like some of the commenters missed the last few moments of the trailer.
I have Acrobat Distiller installed but I don't see the PDF option from within Word. I'm almost positive I've created a PDF in Word on this computer before... Any ideas?
DOH! Thanks, Ginger. I don't do it very often from Word so I forgot and the Distiller Help ain't so Helpful!
I can read PDFs on my phone. It's not the funnest use of it ever, but if it's doable for a few pages, I expect a dedicated reader to be doable for a few more.
The problem with the normal portable PDF model for eInk is the refresh rate. Smooth scrolling is really impossible on the screen - it really only works in the context of the page-turning metaphor. They could implement something, I'm sure, but it wouldn't do it WELL.
Gack. I'm adding a new member to my electronic family and I'm all unprepared. I need an ethernet hub for the living room now. Reflexively I want one that can run that dd-wrt firmware my wireless router is running, but it's not a wireless router...though I could put a wireless one in and just make the signal stronger out there...
That may be pointless, but is it feasible?
And, wow, I have to buy network cables. I've never had to buy them before. This is weird.
Is there any reason to keep Windows 95 and 98 boot disks? I'm tackling my long-neglected office. I'm also trying to think of some kind of Martha Stewart thing to do with a plastic drawer for floppies. It's sturdy. It has sides. CDs won't fit.
Do you still have any Windows 95/98 computers? If not, then toss 'em.
No, I don't. Any of you people with ancient computer collections need them?
Related question: I have 6 zip disks. I no longer have a zip drive. They contain a five- or six-year-old backup, so it's possible that there's something sensitive in there. Hulk smash?
