Our wings are not tired

I have always been very fond of Canon cameras and have owned quite a few with no problems over the years.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I did a little poking around Consumer Reports ratings for digital cameras, and the Canon PowerShot A720IS 8MP with 6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom looks rather promising, especially since it's only $195 at Amazon. CR gave it a score of 75, which is decent for that low of a price.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I am eventually going to buy myself a Sony Cybershot DSCW55. Yes, in pink. It's gotten good reviews, it's small (which is what I'm looking for, because I want to cart it around in my purse), and hey! Pink!

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

Canon cameras are quiet good. I have had several and have the XTi on my "list of things to get".

I currently have the XTi and it is a great camera. I also have an SD500 that is quite small and takes great pictures. I had the A40 before that and it never gave me any problems.

Just call me "Siouxsie Shunshine".

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

My Visual Design teacher, who does a whole lot of professional photography and some blinged-out cameras, lenses and so on to do it with, has very nice things to say about the hobby-priced Canons, fwiw.

I got a $128 deal on a reconditioned Fujifilm Finepix A500, although now I know I could use the extra features I'd get on a Canon not priced much more. Aside from having to go to the Fuji website to download the photo-handling software for my new Vista OS, no complaints.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I just scanned in a bunch of glass negatives, old family pictures. I want to flip the b/w so that I'll have the positive images. Is there a way to do that in iPhoto, or do I need to install something with more features? I can't find it in iPhoto, but I haven't explored all the menus.

Now tagless for your comfort.

We're in the Blu-ray, HD-DVD quandry.

I hate this. It's like betamax vs. vhs. Which format has the porn industry chosen? That might be the one that comes out on top.

Uh, so to speak.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

I think I'm correct in saying the porn industry isn't decided yet (ie they'll do both).

I would hold back for now. Warner Bros are rumoured to be announcing which format they are supporting soon (they have done both up to now) so that may help things along.

That said, I've got a HD-DVD player for my Xbox 360 and I love it. Serenity HD with surround sound is the dogs bollocks. But if it goes Blu-Ray, it means I've got to spend too much money again.

Also, I recently saw It's A Wonderful Life on HD-DVD. It was fucking glorious - I've no idea how they mastered it, but the picture is outstanding.
