Dude, that Tshirt is pretty cool.

OK, anyone got old school CRT monitor help? New job today, and sitting at the old clunky monitor was starting to give me a migraine, because of the way it was flashing/refreshing/whatever. It was like it was pulsating or flickering. What can I do about this?? Anything? (Besides ask for a new monitor) Buttons to push, settings to control, screen thing to buy to put over it? I swear, if I have to look at this thing every day like this, I may not last long in this job. (which I'll tell them if I have to, but...)

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Try bumping up the refresh rate to 75Hz or more. Start->Settings->Control Panel->Display, then go to the Settings tab, click the Advanced button, and go to the Monitor tab.

Or something like that.

Awesome, I shall try that tomorrow. If it doesn't work, I may have to be the whiny complainer who's all "I need a new monitor!" on her second day. Gah.

Of course, considering the admin was complaining all day because her monitor was not working AT ALL and was getting no traction with the help desk guy....well....we'll see.

I'd also love to have a normal keyboard. You can TELL me that I"ll love the split keyboard, but when I type 100 wpm, it just throws me off, man.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

With some CRT monitors, the higher the resolution, the lower the refresh rate. So you might have to reduce the resolution to get the refresh rate up to where you want it.

Certain people (myself included) are more sensitive to lower refresh rates. Also, LCD is so much better.

Our wings are not tired

If anyone here is interested, I'm going to have a 1.33 GHz Powerbook G4 up for sale shortly. I've just got to get the hard drive backed up, and then reformat it and install a clean copy of the OS. I believe it has 512MB of RAM and an 80 GB hard drive. I've not even started thinking about price yet, so if anyone wants to make an offer, feel free.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Andi and I are interested again. Do you have any repeat customer rates?

I'm sure we can work something out. Let me check what the going rate on machines of that vintage are.

Daniel, it looks like similar machines are going for $700 to $850 on ebay. This one pretty much just came back from an Apple Care visit to fix any problems and then I replaced it with my MacBook Pro and it's been sitting on the shelf ever since. How does $650 sound?

Hi hive mind. Crazy question. Comes mostly from frugality. I mentioned in Bitches last night. I'm traveling to FLA next month for a family gathering. 5 days without internet... with family. Plus roundtrip cross country flights with mother. Love her. really.

So the question. I was wanting some sort of entertainment/internet browser thingie. I was looking at trying to get a wifi card for my old PDA, but it's too old. I was looking at some Sony thing, but it's wifi ONLY, and I got to thinking, what if my sisters place doesn't have wi-fi, and I'm kinda sick of Sony (my Clie is blah, and expansion is SONY ONLY parts). So then I'm thinking upgrading my phone to a data package. Which would mean getting the iPhone. Which is cool and all, but a bit pricey. So, is there a *good* item that gives ya browsing (even if it's JUST wi-fi), plays some videos, check e-mails, B.org, and maybe some games and stuff? And less expensive than the iPhone, but easy and cool? (wow, I'm not asking too much, am I?)
