Wash: Well, I wash my hands of it. It's a hopeless case. I'll read a nice poem at the funeral. Something with imagery. Zoe: You could lock the door and keep the power-hungry maniac at bay. Wash: Oh, no, I'm starting to like this poetry idea now. Here lies my beloved Zoe, my autumn flower, somewhat less attractive now she's all corpsified and gross...

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It doesn't really have to come out as a Word doc, just something that looks nice.

In the past month,

• My fancy photo printer died. There are no authorized Epson service centers in NYC. I would have to ship the printer somewhere to get it fixed. Even if it were cheaper than buying a new printer, it wouldn't be worth the effort.

• I dropped a camera. I'm still waiting to hear back from the repair guy to hear if it's totaled.

• Today, the Thunderbolt Display for my Mac mini died. At least I think it's the display. It might be a bad port on the mini. I've been waiting for months for apple to refresh their iMacs so that I could buy one. So what do I do now? Do I buy a current iMac that will probably be obsolete in a matter of weeks? Do I buy a cheap monitor to keep my current mini alive for a while?

• once I replace all this stuff, I'll have a bunch of bulky electronics that I can't throw away that I'll somehow have to bring to recycling, even though I don't have a car.

Fuck this shit.

Oh that's annoying as all get out, Tom! The Mac things you can bring to an apple store, though, for recycling. Doesn't help the timing issue.

I think half 5he reason I would want an organizer to help me is not even so they would organize, but so that they would figure out where to take the shredding and the electronics and they would take the clothes for donation and so on.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

That all sounds annoying as hell, Tom.

Tom, that's a lot of bad electronics luck all at once - sorry to hear. As far as e-cycling, I recommend hiring a TaskRabbit. You can set up a pickup really easily with the app, and even have the Tasker send you a photo of the receipt/proof of drop off so that you don't have to wonder if your stuff landed in the Hudson.

Hey. New board.

Tom, could you try plugging your Mac mini into a TV you might already have for a while? I don't know how long term bearable it would be but it is something.

My monitor came back to life, but I'm afraid to post about it because then I will jinx myself.

Our wings are not tired.

Need some advice concerning security type credentials. #1 son is thinking of doing some study and testing on security areas but there are a multitude of paths. We have SonicWall in our cloud environment, so he can access that easily and work on it, but getting SonicWall credentials seems limiting. There is also Cisco, ,Microsoft/Azure, CompTIA, and more! He already has a good deal of knowledge and competency, but nothing formal.

He'd like some initials behind his name, but I'm not sure what would be best. Any thoughts on that field of study and credentials?

(as I hit the road for the next few hours, so more later)

I think ISSEP/CISSP is a good credential.
