Fred: It's the pictures in my mind that are getting me. It's like being stuck in a really bad movie with those Clockwork Orange clampy things on my eyeballs. Wesley: Why imagine? Reality's disturbing enough.

Needing some help. This convo started last night in natter. I am attempting to update my os to Yosemite. My internal hd showing some issues, so it will not install.

I have a MacBook pro. My info says " your Mac contains 2 memory slots each of which accepts a 1333 MHz ddr3 memory module. All memory slots are currently in use".

I do have back ups on an external hd and am Connected to that now about to do a control r restart.

From the safe restart it does not give me the option to repair the HD. I can type out what issues it shows if that would help anyone to help me fix it.

As for starting from a backup, I have no idea what to do after I click on rebuild.

And I meant command r restart. When I just did it I am getting a completely different screen from what I saw last night. It is walking me through restoring from a back up, just like what I expect from a Mac. Fingers crossed.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Good luck! That does sound very similar to my experience so I hope it works out, since I managed to muddle through (I can tell because i have Yosemite running now, so something must have worked)

Restore is down, I am back up and running 10.7.5. I just ran a verify disk on the HD and now it shows no issues, so I guess I can try again.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Just FYI: I got a HP Stream this Xmas, through the extreme generosity of a person (not a Bufffista or relative), because both my old laptops died, and I couldn't work.

I recommend it highly. (I got the pink one, and it makes me happy every time I look at it.) It's about $199 and has Office 365, and works like a dream. Lots of memory in the hard drive and 1 TB of cloud memory, and the keyboard for such a small laptop is stellar.

I adore it.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Anyone need a 10.6.8 (Snow Lion) disk? I have a spare. Family didn't communicate well...

Due to a strange occurrence, yes. Do you actually have one still, sarameg? I realize your post was weeks ago.

Nephlet is now 18 and got his old computer back. But we age-restricted that thing like crazy and no one knows the password.
