Potentially killer set-top box for cord-cutters
Add Netflix and this could replace Tivo AND Roku for me. [eta: And cable, except for Game of Thrones. Come on HBO, you're my last hold-out!]

SO that is a one time purchase, no yearly subscription?
God I miss my DVR, but it's so nice having no box whatsoever.

Yeah, that's what it looks like. If they're able to line up more content partners there might be monthly charges for specific online channels, but they're not charging for regular TV listings info the way Tivo does.
Basically a VCR, but digital. I'm curious if there is any DRM's.
Oooh. As a cable-less OTA viewer, I would be all over that.
But at $250 it only includes 16 GB of flash memory which is only good for a 2 hour recording time. You'd need to add a hard drive to make it even usable.
Yeah, that's what I noticed. Boo.
I wonder if there is an option to record at lesser quality level (think VCR speeds of SP, LP, SLP). Not sure digital can do that. But at 2 hours, it's pretty much EXACTLY like an old VCR. I wonder if you can remove the flash memory, and insert another (i.e., is it a card? Or soldered into the circuit board).
But you can but a 4TB drive for less than the cost of a Tivo lifetime subscription.
